Burn Closes Bridge

For the technically minded

The bridge is a six span viaduct formed from three reinforced concrete longitudinal beams supporting secondary reinforced concrete transverse beams.
A reinforced concrete deck sits astride these transverse beams.
Reinforced concrete trestles at piers and abutments support the superstructure. The trestles are constructed from two inclined columns, which form monolithic joints with two outer longitudinal beams with diagonal bracing members.
A horizontal tie connects the two columns.
